GIAF Scholarship 2024

In marking the 3rd anniversary of the passing of the late 21st COAS, on 21st May 2024, the Board decided to commence the second priority area of the Foundation in the provision of scholarships to children and dependent’s of Army personnel and veterans in Nigerian universities, starting with the 2024/25 session intake. It is a programme designed to encourage our youths, most of whom have abundance of potentials, whilst the opportunities are getting rarer.

As such, the purpose of the Scholarship Programme is to:

1. To give opportunities to some of the best students who are children or dependants of serving Army personnel or veterans, who, otherwise might find it difficult to go to a university.

2. To award annual Scholarships to 100 students into any of the Nigerian Federal Universities.

3. To encourage and support the study of any of the STEM subjects(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

4. To encourage girl education.

5. To establish and mentor a pool of responsible scholars who would be inspired to support and mentor the generation coming behind them.

General’s commitment to creating a new and prosperous Nigeria where everyone of her citizens has the right to share in the opportunities, enjoyment, challenges and responsibilities of everyday life, it was decided that the awardees are to be selected from Command Secondary Schools across all the six geo-political zones, including the FCT, in equal proportion.
